On the 27th of May 2025 the Ohene Ameyaw model JHS school Techiman held her annual prefectorial elections for the Ohene Ameyaw Model JHS ‘A’ School Techiman. The electoral materials and logistics were given freely to the school by the metropolitan office of the electoral commission of Ghana. Learners bought forms and filled the same as their intention to stand for the elections. Vetting and manifesto presentations were held before the D-day.
There were eight polling stations with one verification officer ballot paper issuing officer. A tutor as the return officer for each polling station. Voting began with a presentation from the chief returning officer for the elections. Form One learner (BS 7) were the first to cast their vote. They were followed by the bs 8 and the final year learners cast their vote later. Various polling stations counted the votes in the presence of each candidate’s polling agent.
The results (Click here to view results) were declared at the polling stations and the same was sent by the chief returning officer who intends to declare the overall results to the school community.
Purpose of the electoral exercise: this is just to introduce the learners to the process in electing our leaders.
